Carolina Under the Lords Proprietors' Rule

11th House of Burgesses - 1694-1699

Not long after he was appointed the new governor of all of Carolina, Governor John Archdale appointed Thomas Harvey as the Deputy Governor to manage the government in the Albemarle region. He died on July 3, 1699.

In 1696, Bath County was established and it was authorized to send two representatives to the House of Burgesses in 1697.

There are only a few records of the Executive Council and no extant records of the General Assembly under Deputy Governor Thomas Harvey from 1694-1699.
