Charles Noel Somerset, 4th Duke of Beaufort

Charles Noel Somerset, 4th Duke of Beaufort (September 12, 1709 - October 28, 1756) was the son of Henry Somerset, 2nd Duke of Beaufort and his second wife, Rachel Noel. Because his elder brother, Henry Somerset, 3rd Duke of Beaufort, had no issue, on 24 February 1746, on his brother's death, he succeeded him and became 4th Duke of Beaufort, 12th Lord Herbert, and Marquess of Worcester. He held the Doctor of Civil Law degree from Oxford.

Upon his father's death in 1714, Charles Noel Somerset and his brother Henry Somerset, both minors, inherited their father's share of Carolina. This share was managed by Doddington Greville.

On behalf of Charles Noel Somerset and Henry Somerset, Doddington Greville sold their inherited share of Carolina to the Crown in 1728/1729.

Charles Noel Somerset was a Member of Parliament for Monmouthshire (1731–1734), and a Member of Parliament for Monmouth (1734–1735).

On 1 May 1740, Charles Noel Somerset married Elizabeth Berkeley, sister of Norborne Berkeley, 4th Baron Botetourt. Elizabeth died on April 9, 1799. The couple had one son - Henry Somerset, 5th Duke of Beaufort, and five daughters - Anne, Elizabeth, Rachel, Mary Isabella, and Henrietta. After his death in 1756, he was buried at St Michael and All Angels Church, Badminton.
