Evolution of Boundaries - With Known Towns & Villages

Anson County decreased in size from 1753 when Rowan County was created; in 1762 when Mecklenburg County was created; in 1779 when Montgomery County and Richmond County were created; and again in 1842 when Union County was created.

Its population grew from 5,133 in 1790 to 26,948 in 2010.
