Anita Earls is an American civil rights attorney, educator and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. She was a deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights during the Bill Clinton administration. On November 6, 2018, Earls defeated Republican incumbent Justice Barbara Jackson to win a seat on the state's highest court. She took her oath of office on January 3, 2019.

Anita Earls is a graduate of Williams College (1981) and Yale Law School (1987). She has taught at Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Maryland.

Her professional experience includes working as an associate and partner at Ferguson, Stein, Wallas, Adkins, Gresham & Sumter, as deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights for the U.S. Department of Justice, as director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law's Voting Rights Project, and as founder and executive director of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice. She has also served on the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission and on the North Carolina State Board of Elections
