An Act to Authorize the Trustees of Madison Academy, in the County of Rockingham, to Raise by Way of a Lottery or Lotteries, Two Thousand Dollars.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Mark Hardin, Thomas Searcy, James E. Galloway, Robert Wall, James H. Scales, and Richard Wall, be, atiil they are hereby authorized, as Trustees of Madison Academy, in the county of Rockingham, to raise by way of lottery or lotteries, the sum of two thousand dollars, for the purpose of completing said Academy, and to enable them to purchase a library and necessary apparatus.

2. And be it further enacted, That the said Trustees be, and they are hereby appointed managers of said lottery or lotteries, and they are hereby empowered to raise the said sum according to such plan or scheme as they may think proper to adopt.
