The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact: Section 1. That the department of agriculture shall be under the control and supervision of a board which shall be composed of the president of the North Carolina State Farmers' Alliance and of one member elected by the general assembly from each congressional district, and of five additional members to be hereafter elected by the general assembly for the state at large. The members elected for the congressional districts shall hold their terms for two years. So much of section two thousand one hundred and eighty-four of The Code as constitutes the Governor, the master of the state grange, the president of the state agricultural society and the president of the agricultural college, the board, is hereby repealed, and so much of said section or of any other law as is inconsistent with this Act is also repealed. Sec. 2. That the management and control of the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, and the care and preservation of all its property, shall reside with and be vested in the board of agriculture; and so much of section three, chapter four hundred and ten of the laws of eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, being an Act entitled "An Act Supplemental to Chapter Three Hundred and Eight, Laws of Eighteen Hundred and Eighty-Five, Entitled 'An Act to Establish and Maintain an Industrial School,' " as provides for a board of trustees consisting in part of five persons appointed by the governor, is hereby repealed, and the board of trustees mentioned in said section three, and the offices of trustees thereby created are hereby abolished; and so much of said Act hereinbefore cited as maybe inconsistent with this Act is hereby repealed, and all laws and clauses of laws inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed. Sec. 3. That the board of agriculture shall have all the powers and perform all the duties heretofore exercised or required of the board of trustees of the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.
