Sparta
On February 14, 1887, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to move a Normal School from Boone (Watauga County) to Sparta in Alleghany County.
On February 13, 1889, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate the Sparta Institute in the town of Sparta, Alleghany County. Ten (10) trustees were named in the Act.
On February 14, 1891, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate the twenty-seven (27) named stockholders of the Sparta Institute in the town of Sparta, Alleghany County.
On March 6, 1899, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to create a special school district out of parts of Alleghany County and Ashe County. Boundaries were defined in the Act.
Also on March 6, 1899, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to Incorporate the Whitehead Academy in the town of Whitehead in Alleghany County. Twelve (12) trustees were named in the Act.
On March 8, 1899, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to create a special school district between New River and the Virginia state line at Horse Ford in Alleghany County.
