Edenton
In 1745, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act - Chapter IX - to repair existing structures, and to erect new public buildings in Edenton, including a new School-House. The Act included, "the Commissioners of Edenton may receive Donations and Subscriptions towards defraying the Expences of building the School-house in the said Town."
In 1770, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act - Chapter XXIII - to authorize the trustees of the school in Edenton to have title to two lots in Edenton for the said school, and to raise money via subscriptions and/or donations. The trustees were also authorized to hire and fire their School Master(s) as they deem appropriate, and "to make and ordain such other Rules, Orders, and Regulations, for the Well Ordering and Good Government of the said School, as to them shall seem Meet and convenient; provided the said Rules correspond, and be, as near as may be, agreeable to the Laws of Great Britain and this Province."
In 1782, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act - Chapter XXIV - to promote learning in the Edenton District. Smith's Academy was incorporated in the town of Edenton, and trustees were named and their authority defined. There was no mention of any existing school.
In 1785, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act - Chapter XXXI - to authorize the commissioners of the town of Edenton to give up to six acres of the Commons land to the trustees of Smith's Academy, for the building to house the school.
On January 10, 1829, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to allow the Edenton Academy in the town of Edenton in Chowan County to take possession of two (2) lots in said town and to dispose of them as they deem appropriate.
On January 13, 1834, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate Sandy Ridge Academy in Chowan County. Eleven (11) trustees were named in the Act. 
On December 9, 1844, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to amend the charter of Edenton Academy in the town of Edenton in Chowan County. Five (5) trustees to be a quorum.
On February 17, 1859, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate the Edenton Literary Association in the town of Edenton in Chowan County. Three (3) trustees were named in the At.
On January 29, 1881, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to empower the Chowan County commissioners to pay certain school debts from 1878 onwards.
On March 3, 1883, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to establish graded schools in the town of Edenton in Chowan County. Eighteen (18) temporary white trustees were named, and seven (7) temporary colored trustees were named, in said Act. This Act was repealed on January 19, 1885; see below.
On January 19, 1885, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to establish the Edenton Graded School in the town of Edenton in Chowan County. Seven (7) trustees were named in the Act, which also repealed the earlier Act of March 3, 1883 (above).
On March 7, 1887, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to amend the Edenton Graded School Law of January 19, 1885 (above). Seven (7) modifications were made.
On March 9, 1889, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to improve the Edenton Academy in the town of Edenton in Chowan County. Trustees were authorized to raise $2,000 in bonds to build a music hall. It is noted in this Act that the original Act to establish this academy was ratified on December 20, 1800.
On February 6, 1893, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to repeal the earlier graded school Act for Edenton in Chowan County and all schools in said town will revert to the general school law.
On March 5, 1895, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate Warwick High School near the town of Gliden in Chowan County. Sixteen (16) trustees were named in the Act.
On February 10, 1899, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to authorize the town of Edenton in Chowan County to sell one lot for a colored school.
