On February 19, 1897, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to ensure that The Code is properly enforced with respect to Graded Public Schools in the town of Whiteville in Columbus County.
On March 6, 1899, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to authorize the qualified voters in the town of Chadbourn to decide whether to levy a special tax to fund public schools in the town of Chadbourn in Columbus County. Three (3) trustees were named in the Act.
Also on March 6, 1899, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to authorize qualified voters to decide whether to levy a special tax to establish the Washington Avenue Supplemental School District near the town of Chadbourn in Columbus County. Three (3) trustees were named in the Act.
