* Whitmell Hill was elected Speaker of the Senate. John Sitgreaves was appointed Clerk, and John Haywood Assistant. William Murphy and William Risney Murray were appointed Door Keepers.

On August 12, 1778, Whitmell Hill was elected to serve at the Continental Congress and he resigned his Senate seat. Allen Jones was elected to replace him as Speaker of the Senate. Kenneth McKenzie was elected to replace Whitmell Hill as Senator from Martin County - he took his seat on January 19, 1779.

** John Eason was also elected as Entry Taker and forced to give up his Senate Seat on April 15, 1778. A new election was ordered for July 22. Thomas Harvey was elected to take his place and he took his seat on January 20, 1779.
*** These Senators also held the position of Entry Taker in their respective counties and were forced to give up their seats in the NC Senate on April 22, 1778. New elections were ordered to replace the Senators in these counties.

***** Took his seat on August 12, 1778.
