For three days, the Royal Navy frigate Solebay cruised off the Cape Fear shoals and captured four merchant vessels.

On February 6th, she captured the sloop Speedwell bound from Charlestown to Philadelphia with a cargo of rice and indigo. The Solebay placed an officer and some men on board to sail the prize to Jamaica.

On February 7th, the Solebay captured the schooner Hope and the brig Fortune.

On February 8th, the Solebay captured the schooner Little Dick.

All prizes were sent to Jamaica and arrived there safely, except for the Little Dick, which was lost on the Nassau bar.
