The Royal Colony of North Carolina

In 1729, two new precincts were established. New Hanover Precinct was created out of the existing Craven Precinct. Tyrrell Precinct was created out of parts of the existing Bertie, Chowan, Currituck, and Pasquotank precincts. Each of these new precincts were authorized two representatives in the House of Burgesses. New Hanover Precinct began sending its delegates to the House of Burgesses in 1733. Tyrrell Precinct began sending its delegates to the House of Burgesses in January of 1734/35.
