A History of Buffalo Race Path, North Carolina

Bute County was created out of Granville County in 1764 and the Act ordered the court house to be built on Jethro Sumner's land at a place called Buffalo Race Path. The hamlet that grew at this location was on the main trading path between Northampton County and Granville County and today would be located southwest of Warrenton in Warren County. Virtually no useful information about this short-lived county seat is currently available.
