A dot on a map made in 1799 is the singular reference found to the small village of Woodbury, located on the northern bank of the Neuse River in south-central Johnston County, North Carolina, along the road from Smithfield to Waynesville (in Wayne County). It is shown to be roughly 10-12 miles south of Smithfield.
