1946 acquired by local interests from Southern Railway. The Alexander Railroad is an 18-mile short line headquartered in Taylorsville, NC. It connects with the Norfolk Southern Railway in Statesville, NC. The ARC was incorporated in 1946, when Southern Railroad announced plans to abandon its line from Statesville to Taylorsville. The new corporation bought the line at scrap value, and has been running it at a profit ever since. Click Here for the company's website, with a tad more information. |
