| In 1884, the Louisburg Railroad began constructing its ten-mile line from a junction with the Raleigh & Gaston Railroad at Franklinton to Louisburg. Upon completion in 1885, it was leased to the Raleigh & Gaston Railroad and operated as a branch line, later to be absorbed by the Seaboard Air Line Railway. | |||||
