Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That the City Board of School Commissioners of the City of Charleston be, and they are hereby, authorized, if in their discretion it should become necessary, to make use of the proceeds of the special tax heretofore collected for the building of a new school building in Charleston, or so much thereof as may be necessary, in the repair of such public school buildings in said city under their contract as may have been damaged by the recent earthquakes. Sec. 2. That this Act shall go into effect immediately upon its approval. In the Senate House, the twenty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six. William L.
