An Act to Amend the General Statutes Relating to the Assessment and Collection of Taxes for School Purposes, and to Add Two New Sections to be Known as Sections 229a and 229b.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That the following Sections be added to the General Statutes, to be known and designated, respectively, Sections 229a and 2293:

"Section 229a. It shall be the duty of each Auditor to state, in a separate column, the School District in which the taxpayer resides."

"Section 229b. At the expiration of the times prescribed by law to receive returns, each Auditor shall make out and forward to the Board of Trustees of each School District within his County a correct list of the polls returned from their respective Districts. The School Trustees shall examine carefully said list and report to the Auditor as soon as practicable the names of all persons who shall have failed or neglected to make returns, and it shall be the duty of the Auditor to enter upon his books the names of all persons thus reported to him by Boards of School Trustees."
