Lt. Governor & Acting Governor William Bull, Jr.'s Executive Council

Location Met: Charles Town

In 1759, William Bull, Jr. was appointed Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina. When Gov. William Henry Lyttleton accepted the governorship of Jamaica and set sail on April 4, 1760, Lt. Gov. William Bull, Jr. took the reins of the government in Charles Town until the arrival of Gov. Thomas Boone on December 22, 1761.

In May of 1764, Gov. Thomas Boone sailed for London, and Lt. Gov. William Bull, Jr. again took the reins of the government in Charles Town until Gov. Lord Charles Greville Montagu arrived on June 17, 1766.
Dates: 1768

Location Met: Charles Town

On May 23, 1768, Gov. Lord Charles Greville Montagu traveled to Philadelphia and Boston. Lt. Gov. William Bull, Jr. ran the South Carolina government from that date until October 30, 1768, when Gov. Montagu returned.
Dates: 1769 to 1771

Location Met: Charles Town

On July 29, 1769, Gov. Lord Charles Greville Montagu went to England for his health. Lt. Gov. William Bull, Jr. ran the South Carolina government from that date until September 15, 1771, when Gov. Montagu returned.
Dates: 1773 to 1775

Location Met: Charles Town

On March 11, 1773, Gov. Lord Charles Greville Montagu resigned his office and set sail for England. Once again, Lt. Gov. William Bull, Jr. took the reins of the South Carolina Government until the arrival of Gov. Lord William Campbell on June 18, 1775.
