The old overarching Pendleton District was now completely
abolished. The Anderson District and Pickens District were now
their own "election districts" with their allocated
delegates representing each district in both the SC House of
Representatives and now the SC Senate.
This map depicts the South Carolina election districts that
were in existence until the end of the Civil War. The forty-sixth
(46th) General Assembly was scheduled to reconvene in late 1865,
but the Federal Occupying force mandated that all existing General
Assembly seats be vacated. The Federal Occupying force also mandated
that South Carolina revise its Constitution and elect new legislators
in 1865.
