Butler's Company of Militia

John Eidson served in the military during the Revolutionary War served in South Carolina Militia, Butler's Company.

Peter Foy (1745-82) served as private in Captain William Butler's company, South Carolina Line.

In 1782, a band of Tories under "Bloody Bill" Cunningham, being encamped near Bouknight's Ferry on the Newberry side of the Saluda River, was surprised by Captain William Butler's Company of South Carolina Rangers (Volunteer State Militia).
