Thomson's Regiment of Rangers

Abraham, William, and Seth Poole served in Captain Edward Richardson's Company of Colonel William Thomson's Rangers during the American Revolution.

In 1775, "Bloody Bill" Cunningham enlisted as a private soldier in a company commanded by Captain John Caldwell in Colonel Thomson's Regiment of Rangers. He later changed sides and joined the Tory movement.

Adam Byerley, Jr. served for thiry days as a sergeant under Captain Jonathan Owen, Colonel Thomson's Regiment.

William Ricketts enlisted in Anson County in the State of North Carolina the month of December 1775, for eighteen months under Captain John Donaldson, Colonel Thomson's Regiment and was marched to Cheraw and Camden South Carolina and from thence to the ten mile house near Charleston thence to Sullivan's Island where we were stationed when it was beseiged by the British under Sir Henry Clinton.

Burrell Faust served as private in Captain Goodwyn's Company, Colonel Thomson's Regiment, South Carolina Rangers.

Colone Thomson's Regiment fought at Nelson's Ferry, Purrysburg, and other places in lower South Carolina.
