A mounted detachment of Brigadier General Francis Marion’s Patriot troops under the command of Capt. George Sinclair Capers attacked and routed and cut to pieces a detachment of Loyalist Black Dragoons operating out of Charlestown. Location currently unknown except that this engagement allegedly happened in present-day Berkeley County.
This engagement is most likely the same one previously identified in Charleston County as Whitehall.
