On December 5, 1775, the HMS Scorpion captured two ships, the Hetty and the Thomas & Stafford at the mouth of Charleston harbor. The Hetty would be made into a British warship and renamed HMS General Clinton, bringing the British "fleet" in Charleston Harbor to six vessels.
