Col. Francis Marion's men mauled Major Robert McLeroth's 64th
Regiment of British regulars.
The Author only found
one reference to this event, which may or may not have happened.
Marion and McLeroth met up on December 12th at Halfway
Swamp, and soon thereafter McLeroth was relieved of his command.
Prior to December 12th, Major McLeroth had been in Kingstree,
but he did not stay very long. He returned on his way northward
to Camden, but most accounts do not mention any engagement with
Marion prior to Halfway Swamp.
