17th Commons House of Assembly - 1748
The Seventeenth Commons House of Assembly under Royal Rule met on at least five (5) known occasions. The first session met from January 19th to January 30th in 1748. The second session met from February 22nd to March 12th in 1748. The third session met from April 7th to April 9th in 1748. The fourth session met from April 25th to May 20th in 1748. The fifth session met from June 6th to June 29th in 1748.

(1) Jacob Bond was elected to represent both Christ Church Parish and St. Thomas's & St. Dennis's Parish. He chose to represent St. Thomas's & St. Dennis's Parish.
(2) Andrew Rutledge was elected to replace Jacob Bond in Christ Church Parish, and he qualified on 5/8/1748.
(3) Isaac Mazyck was elected to represent Prince Frederick's Parish, St. James, Santee Parish, and St. John's, Berkeley Parish. He chose to represent Prince Frederick's Parish.
(4) William Bull, Jr. was elected to represent both Prince William's Parish and St. Bartholomew's Parish. He chose to represent St. Bartholomew's Parish.
(5) Edmund Bellinger was elected to replace William Bull, Jr. in Prince William's Parish, but he declined to serve. Joseph Butler was elected to replace Edmund Bellinger, but he never qualified before this Assembly was dissolved.
(6) William Branford was elected to represent both St. Andrew's Parish and St. Helena's Parish. He chose to represent St. Andrew's Parish.
(7) William Cattell, Jr. was elected to represent both St. Andrew's Parish and St. Helena's Parish. He chose to represent St. Helena's Parish.
(8) Barnard Elliott was elected to replace William Cattell, Jr. in St. Andrew's Parish, and he qualified on 2/25/1748.
(9) Isaac Hayne declined to serve. Culcheth Golightly was elected to replace Isaac Hayne, and he qualified on 3/2/1748.
(10) Ralph Izard declined to serve. Richard Baker was elected to replace Ralph Izard, but he too declined to serve. Seat remained vacant.
(11) Robert Yonge was elected to replace William Branford, Jr. in St. Helena's Parish. He never qualified and he indicated that he never intended to qualify. Seat remained vacant.
(12) Paul Mazyck declined to serve. Thomas Johnson was elected to replace Paul Mazyck, and he qualified on 2/26/1748.
(13) Richard Singleton was elected to replace Isaac Mazyck in St. James, Santee Parish, but he declined to serve. John Ward was then elected to replace Richard Singleton, but he too declined to serve. Seat remained vacant.
(14) Thomas Wright was elected in both St. James, Santee Parish and St. Thomas's & St. Dennis's Parish. He declined to serve in either parish.
(15) Elias Horry was elected to replace Thomas Wright in St. James, Santee Parish, but he declined to serve. John Ouldfield was then elected to replace Elias Horry, and he qualified on 4/28/1748.
(16) Thomas Cordes was elected to represent both St. John's, Berkeley Parish and St. John's, Colleton Parish. He chose to represent St. John's, Colleton Parish.
(17) John Cordes was elected to replace Thomas Cordes, and he qualified on 2/26/1748.
(18) Elected to replace Isaac Mazyck in St. John's, Berkeley Parish, and he qualified on 2/26/1748.
(19) Richard Ash declined to serve. John Ladson was elected to replace Richard Ash, and he qualified on 4/27/1748.
(20) Patrick McKay declined to serve. Assume the seat remained vacant.
(21) John Dutarque was elected to replace Thomas Wright in St. Thomas's & St. Dennis's Parish. He qualified on 2/25/1748.
