Found on a few maps of South Carolina between 1797 and 1799, a small village named Union can be found in the Beaufort Distict - perhaps five miles south and east of Purrysburg, in what today would be Jasper County. Since there was already a county with County Seat named Union, it stands to reason that this town would have been either renamed - if it didn't merely evaporate soon after 1800. Nothing else is currently known about this village/hamlet in early South Carolina. |
