+ Louisville, Cincinnati & Charleston Railroad (re-organized as the South Carolina Railroad in 1843).

+ 1842 - Branchville & Columbia Railroad completed.
+ 1843 - Louisville, Cincinnati & Charleston Railroad re-organized as the South Carolina Railroad.
+ 1848 - Camden & Branchville Railroad completed.

Railroads chartered between 1841 and 1850, but not operational as of 1850:

+ 1845 - Greenville & Columbia Railroad.
+ 1846 - Charlotte & South Carolina Railroad.
+ 1846 - Wilmington & Manchester Railroad.
+ 1847 - Spartanburg & Union Railroad.
+ 1847 - Laurens Railroad.
+ 1848 - Kings Mountain Railroad.
+ 1849 - Cheraw & Darlington Railroad.

Railroads chartered between 1841 and 1850, but no evidence they were ever constructed:

+ 1847 - Colleton Railroad.
+ 1848 - Greenville Railroad
+ 1849 - Spartanburg Railroad.
+ 1849 - Charleston Floating Dry Dock & Marine Railway.
