South Carolina Railroads - 1900 - Seaboard Air Line Railway System

In 1892, the Seaboard Air Line Railroad was formally named. By February of 1899, Mr. John L. Williams and sons acquired controlling interest away from Mr. John M. Robinson, and on July 1, 1900, Mr. Williams incorporated the Seaboard Air Line Railway in Virginia.

Railroads that were already operational prior to 1891:

+ Palmetto Railroad.
+ Georgia, Carolina & Northern Railroad.

Railroads completed between 1891 and 1900:

+ 1899 - Chesterfield & Kershaw Railroad acquired by the Raleigh & Gaston Railroad during construction, one of the originators of the Seaboard Air Line Railway. In 1900, the C&K was formally acquired by SAL.
+ 1900 - Florida Central & Peninsular Railroad (which had leased the South Bound Railroad in South Carolina) acquired by the Seaboard Air Line Railway.
