Colonel over the Rutherford County Regiment of Militia - 1779-1781

On 9/9/1775, Andrew Hampton was commissioned a Captain under Col. William Graham in the Tryon County Regiment of Militia.

On 4/22/1776, Andrew Hampton was commissioned a Lt. Colonel under Col. William Graham in the Tryon County Regiment of Militia.

On 2/8/1779, Andrew Hampton was commissioned as Colonel/Commandant over the newly-created Rutherford County Regiment of Militia, a position he held until early 1781 when he was elected as Sheriff of Rutherford County.
