The American Revolution in North Carolina

Richard Caswell, Jr.

Major, Lt. Colonel, Colonel over the Dobbs County Regiment of Militia
Lt. Colonel in the 2nd NC Regiment of Militia

Per Chapter XXXIX of the 1785 laws enacted by the North Carolina General Assembly, Richard Caswell, Jr. went to Charleston, SC in November of 1784 to acquire products "on credit" to sell upon his return to North Carolina. After completing his business in Charleston, he sailed back towards New Bern and on December 27, 1784 his ship was lost at sea.

Of course, he was the son of Richard Caswell, the first governor for the state of North Carolina.
