4) Lake Norman Airpark	Mooresville	Private	14A	1965	-	Per AirNav - activated 6/1967. In 1964, the Lake Norman Aviation Club, Inc. (LNAC) negotiated leasing arrangements with Duke Power Co. to use the land. LNAC purchased two airplanes in the Spring of 1965. The first meeting recorded as being held in the new clubhouse was in July 1966. In 1970, the runway was a 2,400 foot grass strip, 20 feet wide and plans were made to construct T-hangers on the field. In 1990, Tom Wilson purchased the airport property and the surrounding acreage, developing a working agreement with the club so that it could continue. In May of 1994, the Lake Norman Airpark Owners Association was incorporated, and this corporation now owns the airpark. The current FBO is Race City Flight Operations.
