Norwood Lumber Company built this line, eight (8) miles in length, along the Forney Creek to a connection with the Southern Railway at Forney, NC. It connected to an inclined railroad that went up Andrews Bald and Clingman's Dome. From Clingman's Dome, it followed a ridge between Noland and Forney Creek. In 1929, the railroad was shut down when the federal government acquired all of the land to be included in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. |
