Evolution of Boundaries - With Known Towns & Villages

Claremont County ceded land for the creation of Salem County in 1792, and for the creation of Kershaw County in 1798.

Its population was 4,548 in 1790.

In 1800, Claremont County was abolished and its land was absorbed by the newly-created Sumter County.
