Joint Resolution to Authorize the City Board of School Commissioners of the City of Charleston to Raise Money for the Support of City Schools.

Whereas, by reason of the tender of bills of the Bank of the State for taxes, a deficiency has occurred in fund for Charleston County, and during the interval between the last collection of taxes and the next levy no means are furnished for the sup port of the schools;

Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That the City Board of School Commissioners of the city of Charleston be, and it is hereby, authorized to contract loans for money to support the said schools to an amount not exceeding one-half of the deficiency which has arisen or may arise in conducting the schools from the date of the last receipt of money from the City Treasurer up to the date at which the taxes for the current year shall be received, and the said loans shall then be paid from the said taxes.
