On December 21, 1811, the South Carolina General
Assembly passed an Act,
which included the incorporation of the Pendleton Circulating
Library Society and authorizing up to $2,000 in assets. The Act
named nine (9) trustees. |
On December 21, 1814, the South Carolina General
Assembly passed an Act,
which included the incorporation of the Academy at Pendleton
Court House, led by the Pendleton Circulating Library Society,
as incorporated above. |
On December 20, 1821, the South Carolina General
Assembly passed an Act,
which authorized the trustees of the Pendleton Circulating Library
Society to establish a female academy (Section X). |
On December 20, 1825, the South Carolina General
Assembly passed an Act,
which included the re-incorporation of the Pendleton Circulating
Library Society with the new name of the Pendleton Academy, and
vested all escheated property, up to $10,000 in value, to said
Pendleton Academy (Sections IX and X). |
