Members of the
4th General Assembly - 1782 |
| On January 8, 1782, the South Carolina legislature
met in Jacksonborough with Maj. Gen. Nathanael Greene and his
large Patriot army between them and the British army in Charlestown.
The House of Representatives met and adjourned each day until
a quorum could arrive, which happened on January 17th (some say
January 18th). This was the first time that the South Carolina
legislature had met since 1780, before the British seized Charlestown
on May 12th. This assembly adjourned on February 16, 1782. |
| There are no extant journals for the Senate from
this General Assembly. The Journal for the House of Representatives,
and all Legislative Acts and Ordinances have been preserved. |
