Airports Found - Virtually Nothing Known Except What's Below

This airstrip has disappeared. It belonged to Julian Dukes “Pally” Wiles who is now deceased, and was on his beautiful farm on SC Hwy 267 (McCord’s Ferry Road) about ½ mile east of U.S. Hwy. 601 in the Ft. Motte area of Calhoun County, SC, just south of the Congaree River. He had a shed hangar but have forgotten what type of airplane he had there. The airstrip is barely visible in the aerial photograph below, it has been returned to agriculture, irrigated with a pivot arm irrigation system and plowed. Info provided in January 2019 by CBB.

This sod crop duster strip was in use for many years but was abandoned about 20 years ago. Col. Thomson Highway is U.S. 601 about 5 miles east of St. Matthews, SC. Info provided in January 2019 by CBB.
