Built in 1941 by the United States Navy and was used by the United States Marine Corps during World War II as an auxiliary airfield assigned to Parris Island Airfield. The airport was turned over to civil authorities in June 1944.

This unnamed and overbuilt airstrip is on the Waccamaw River, just west of Pawleys Island on the Waccamaw Neck. It is now converted into the Heritage Plantation/Heritage Club off of the Old Kings River Road. Parts of the old airstrip are under Oakmore Drive and their marina’s parking lot.
