* 1870 - Renamed to the Spartanburg & Union Railroad.
Acquired by the Greenville & Columbia Railroad around the same time as it was renamed.
Railroad fever brought plans for lines through Pacolet in 1840, but it wasn’t until 1855 that the Union & Spartanburg Railroad laid tracks through the town. The railroad drew new businesses and residents.
